Motorsport Fabrication
Renowned for our artisanal British sports cars, we are proud to announce the expansion of our services to include a dedicated motorsport fabrication and servicing division. Building on our heritage of crafting exceptional vehicles, we now offer a comprehensive suite of services to elevate your classic and race car’s performance and safety.
Batch Production & One-Off Fabrication
This service caters to both large and small projects. We can handle batch production of motorsport parts, which is ideal for teams or manufacturers needing multiples of the same component. Additionally, we excel at creating one-off, custom-designed parts for unique racing applications.
Bespoke Roll Cage Fabrication
Roll Cage manufacturing and Roll Cage fitting. We specialise in manufacturing custom roll cages for motorsport vehicles, designed to meet specific racing regulations and provide superior occupant protection during collisions.
Custom Tube Work
Our team of experts collaborates with you to understand your needs, whether it’s crafting high-strength chassis components, lightweight yet robust suspension arms, or precisely engineered intake manifolds. The process begins with in-depth consultations to determine the specific application, desired material properties, and weight constraints. Our engineers translate these requirements into detailed CAD models, meticulously optimising tube geometry and ensuring perfect integration within your motorsport vehicle.
CAD Design
This service utilises Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to generate detailed blueprints for motorsport parts, ensuring accuracy and efficient fabrication.
Race and Track Car Prep
Everything you need for the preparation of your race car or track day vehicle to optimise performance and safety. It can include tasks like suspension setup, corner weighting, and 4-wheel alignment.
4-Wheel Alignment
This service utilises specialised equipment to precisely adjust the angles of a vehicle’s wheels, ensuring optimal handling and tyre wear on the racetrack.
Corner Weighting
Corner weighting is a precise measurement of a vehicle’s static weight distribution across each wheel. This data is critical for optimising suspension performance and achieving balanced handling characteristics.
The process involves placing the vehicle on calibrated weight scales, one positioned under each tyre. Once settled, the weight data for each corner is meticulously recorded. Suspension adjustments are then made, typically by modifying spring preload or ride height settings, to achieve a desired weight distribution across all four wheels. This process may be iterative, with weight measurements taken after each adjustment to ensure optimal balance is reached.
The primary benefit of corner weighting is a more predictable handling experience. A balanced car exhibits a reduced tendency to oversteer or understeer during cornering, leading to sharper turn-in, improved overall grip, and potentially faster lap times. Additionally, balanced weight distribution minimises uneven tyre wear, maximising tyre life and overall performance consistency.
Suspension Setup
Suspension setup involves fine-tuning various components within a vehicle’s suspension system to optimise handling performance for specific driving conditions. This service focuses on achieving a balance between factors like ride comfort, handling responsiveness, and overall vehicle stability.
The process typically begins with a detailed assessment of the vehicle’s current suspension configuration, including spring rates, shock absorber settings, and ride height. This information, along with the intended driving application (e.g., track racing, street performance), forms the basis for recommended adjustments.
Suspension adjustments can involve modifications to:
- Spring preload: Adjusting the pre-load on the springs directly impacts ride height and weight distribution.
- Shock absorber settings: Damping adjustments (compression and rebound) affect how the suspension reacts to bumps and weight transfer during manoeuvres.
- Sway bar settings: Adjustments to the sway bar influence how much the vehicle rolls during cornering.
These adjustments are made systematically, with test drives conducted to evaluate the impact on handling characteristics. The process may be iterative, with further adjustments made until the desired balance between comfort, responsiveness, and stability is achieved.
The primary benefit of suspension setup is a more predictable and controlled driving experience. A well-tuned suspension can improve cornering performance, enhance overall vehicle stability, and potentially provide a smoother ride quality.
GRP Shop – Custom Fibreglass Components & Repairs
GRP Shop is your one-stop shop for all things fibreglass when it comes to motorsport vehicles. Our team of skilled technicians utilises Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP), also known as fibreglass, to create custom components and perform top-notch repairs.
Fiberglass offers a unique blend of lightweight construction and impressive durability, making it ideal for crafting bespoke body parts that optimise both performance and aesthetics. Whether you require a custom aerodynamic wing, a lightweight engine cover, or a replacement panel for a damaged section, GRP Shop has the expertise to deliver exceptional results.
Our repair services are equally impressive. We meticulously restore damaged fibreglass components on your motorsport vehicle, returning them to their original form and functionality. This can involve anything from repairing minor cracks and chips to reconstructing larger sections.
